In a significant cultural ceremony held in Mogadishu, Ugaas Osman Yusuf Mursal Osman Dooy was officially crowned as the Supreme Traditional Leader (Ugaas Guud) of the Hubsane clan, a major sub-clan of the Bagadi confederation within the Digil and Mirifle community.
According to a report by Shabelle TV, the coronation drew hundreds of attendees from across Somalia and the diaspora, including traditional leaders, community elders, youth representatives, women, business figures, and dignitaries. The Hubsane clan, while not the largest in number, holds significant influence and resides across multiple regions including Bur Awdheegle, Daanyerey, Bariire, Bay, and Bakool.

The new Ugaas brings over two decades of experience to the role, having served for more than 20 years as a peacemaker (nabadoon) and mediator within the Bagadi clan and broader Somali society. During his acceptance speech, Ugaas Osman Yusuf pledged to dedicate his leadership to fostering peace, unity, and reconciliation, promising to work closely with all segments of the Digil and Mirifle community.

A notable moment during the ceremony was the formal recognition by the Council of Traditional Culture of Digil and Mirifle (Golaha Dhaqanka Digil iyo Mirifle), who welcomed Ugaas Osman Yusuf as a member of their council of 32 elders representing Banadir. This integration signifies his role within the broader traditional governance structure of the Digil and Mirifle confederation.
Community elders emphasized that the Hubsane have historically maintained peaceful relations with neighboring clans and that the installation of this experienced leader marks a new chapter for the community. The ceremony concluded with prayers and blessings for the new Ugaas, with attendees expressing hope that his leadership would bring prosperity and stability while contributing positively to Somalia's traditional cultural framework.
